Yesterday, I decided to head over to Rocky Fork State Park. It's without question, my favorite place to hike. The trail runs along streams and small waterfalls, and the soothing sound of the water coupled with the flowers and trees, creates an experience that makes my heart sing.
I bumped into a couple, Sally and Jason. It was the first time for them on this trail, and they drove from Asheville, excited to explore something new.
Jason pulled out his map and shared that they would be hiking a loop trail I had not done yet. I asked them if I could join them, and they happily agreed.
They were delightful to hike with—we all walked in silence, with the occassional conversation. The told me about their upcoming hiking trip to Ireland. They plan more trips like this, and while hiking is new to Sally, she's up for the challenge.
As we parted, they told me how lovely it was to hike with me. They usually chatted about their "to do" list, and yet today, it was more about exploring our lives differently.
These hikes aren't about exercise. With the release of my next book, The M.A.G.I.C. Roadmap™, coming in May, I needed to spend time in nature to relax and prepare for the next chapter of my life.
I'll be sixty-five in July. I realize that all of the hardships in my life brought me to this place, here and now, were to create the life I was meant for as an author and speaker.
The best is yet to come...
